Gibault

Why is Gibault so Important?

gibaultsignThe Indiana Knights of Columbus founded Father Gibault Home for Boys in 1921 as a home for wayward boys. Over the years, Gibault has evolved to meet the ever-changing needs of troubled kids, boys and girls, everywhere. Today, Gibault has provided life-changing opportunities for more than 9,000 children and their families. According to the 2020 Gibault annual report that was published in 2021, there were 154 admissions, from 57 different counties in 2020. There were 158 discharges. 85% of these were in accordance with plan of treatment and 85% were discharged to a less restrictive environment – these include home, group home, and foster homes.

Along with the three Gibault campuses in Indiana (Terre Haute, Shelbyville, and Jasper County) and one Ohio (Springfield), Gibault also maintains the McGivney Health Care Center in Carmel, IN and the Odyssey House in Terre Haute.

“McGivney Health Care offers 37 comprehensive care beds for persons with a chronic illness or disability and are in need of long-term care. Gibault Care operates under the name McGivney Health Care Center in memory of Father Michael J. McGivney, Founder of the Knights of Columbus.

The vision of the Odyssey House is that there would be a drug and alcohol free living environment available for any person who is ready to begin their journey of recovery, while becoming contributing members of the community.

The Knights will continue to serve an important role in Gibault’s future. They serve on the organization’s board of directors and provide vital financial funding through many State and Council programs. We hope that you will pray for these young people and be able to financially continue to support Gibault’s efforts.
